Product Development

Infinite resources. Is there really such a thing when addressing product development, QA testing, security validation, AppExchange listing? Believe it or not, our customers think so.

How so? The one finite resource that binds (stifles) your innovation – your budget – determines that your roadmap will have releases with specific content and that you will produce that content with a fixed headcount. Sales, marketing, your customers, your CEO are one-and-all never fully satisfied with the inevitable rollback of some part of your roadmap.

Let’s for a moment imagine that you had unlimited headcount. Same budget, just the ability to match your development resources to everyone’s dream roadmap. Sales, marketing, your customers, your CEO become supporters/advocates. Our hybrid onshore/offshore model can help you achieve just that – your goals, your objectives and restore the ability to innovate rather than chase the competition.

Lead the pack.

Going Native?

Already have an app on the AppExchange and thinking of going native? This is a key decision that you will have to make as you decide how to deploy your application or your idea on the AppExchange.

The shortest route for a company with an existing app is to have us develop a number of connectors to the Salesforce objects. Is that the best long term decision? We would suggest that the best course of action is to put your best foot forward first and have us re-develop your code in the native Apex language of force.com. Why you ask?

Native applications on the force.com platform share Salesforce objects, eliminating the ongoing need for the continual development of connectors and APIs. More importantly, our native implementation is “implementation friendly”. That is, if your customer has other native Salesforce apps running on their systems, then you automatically integrate with them, reducing your total cost of ownership for your customer and reducing the signature-to-cash timeframe.

Of course, we’ll work with you no matter your choice, but will always be sure that you are fully aware of your options and the benefits and risks of any plans.

In addition, our services include working with you to get your app listed and vetted on the AppExchange.

AppExchange Release

This can be an arduous process, and by extension, an expensive and frustrating one. As with anything that is detailed and complex, been there done that, makes every subsequent time that much easier. This can indeed be a rocky road for first-timers.

Statistically, 50% of security approvals necessary for AppExchange release fail when performed by an ISV, delaying that most important product/revenue launch, in some cases by months.

Also statistically, Salesforce PDO Partners succeed 85% of the time, first time, with the balance resulting in the need for minor changes.

In contrast Bit Order has a 100% success rate for security approvals. That first-time every time record gets our customers to market faster, with lower costs, and zero frustration. That’s the value of Bit Order and the trust that Salesforce has placed with us as a PDO Partner.

Professional Services

For many of our customers staffing their professional services team at optimal levels is a true challenge – too few and they end up managing customer complaints, rollout backlogs, and delayed revenue recognition; too many and they are paying for people to sit on the bench, just in case. Some have decided that they will rely on their customers’ technical teams to perform implementations; yet others want to provide full implementation and integration services, but only through third parties.

In all cases we can help. If you just need to boost your team’s efforts to meet a temporary demand, we can provide staff augmentation services. If you are looking to accelerate revenue recognition and help your customers get up and running quickly, that’s what we do. If you are looking for a partner that understands your business, your application, and your customers, look no further.

If you are looking to manage your PS operation, we can guide you to the system that we created for one of our partners – a perennial sales leader on the AppExchange.

As a certified Salesforce Product Development Partner, you can be certain that we know the Salesforce platform backward and forward, but we also have extensive experience with just about every ERP, financial, healthcare, HR, and mobility system there is. In fact, some of our founding team members actually developed the original code for some of these applications!

Implementation and Integration

Many of our partners have made the strategic decision that they will focus on innovation, ideas for new products, for new functionality, expanding the distance between them and the competition, and leaving the implementation of their apps to others who are similarly focused on professional delivery. We have heard it said that there is nothing worse for a development team than to be constantly distracted by customer requests for minor code changes.

We can take care of all the customization and customer specific feature development as a part of your Force.com based product implementation. We work with your business analysts and help with data migration, external system integration, and custom extensions of your product.

If you have developed your app in native force.com, integration may be somewhat less of an issue, but it doesn’t mean that there will be no integration challenges for your customers.

For many of our customers, their development teams are much more effective working on core applications than on the “grunt work” of integration. That’s where we help your team focus on its core competencies and not get distracted by delivery tasks.

For your sales and financial teams that are focused on compressing the signature-to-cash cycle, eliminating backlogs, and accelerating revenue recognition, using our integration services team can accomplish all of those in short order.

We are also ever mindful of the need for “stickiness” of your app and the fact that the more internal systems with which your app is integrated, the more difficult it will be for any customer to cancel their subscription. That’s what true partners do – make sure that your revenue is protected.

Mobile App Development

Many have observed that Salesforce1 does not have the full functionality of the desktop version, presenting a true challenge in taking their internal Salesforce system fully mobile. Simply stated, our customers do not have that problem.

We can help replicate every desktop function on your mobile device. Period. For more discussion, please see our White Paper here.

If you are thinking of enhancing your mobile app or creating a new one, Bit Order can help you exploit the distinctive features of the iPad/iPhone or the suite of Android devices and deliver exquisite looking, highly productive apps. If you are planning to target only the iOS platform, we will help you in evolving designs that will thrive on all form factors, leveraging their distinct capabilities and screen sizes.

Our Apple team has thorough understanding of Apple’s HIG (human interface guidelines) and they are committed to applying this knowledge in creating the most user friendly app for you, thereby enhancing the user adoption of your app. Your app is no longer judged against that of your competitors, but against all apps – consumer and business – so it is critical that you design team have leading edge skills. Be it any business and sales related, finance and HR, social networking, or any area of service, we can build highly functional, ultra-cool looking, and most importantly, revenue generating apps!

We are deeply experienced in the Apple app store publishing process and the guidelines for ensuring that your apps are approved without rejections. Having us handle the approval process can compress your time-to-market by weeks.

For Android apps: With a wide variety of implementations of the Android operating system, it is critical that you select a development partner that thrives at the leading edge of all things Android – smartphones and tablets.

In addition to requiring intimate familiarity with the operating system while developing an app for Android, it is critical to understand the specific nuances and features of the individual phone or tablet. Certain features may or may not be available on all devices and this must to be managed gracefully if you are to have a successful launch. Android phones also differ among themselves in form-factor and screen resolution, which also have an effect on the all-important UI. Consistency across all screen types and sizes spells success.

Conversions: We also routinely port existing iOS apps to Android and we can do this very efficiently as we have extensive experience in porting apps across these platforms. Simply give us the link to your iPhone app and the graphic assets, and we will port the app to your Android in record time.

QA Automation

Often tedious; never to be neglected.

We start with test cases, test plans, test scripts, and validate on all platforms: browser, mobile, desktop, big data, hybrid cloud environments, and packaged enterprise applications, using simple text values, application-internal properties, or images – all through your GUI. We establish regression testing in continuous build environments to uncover new software bugs much faster and to reduce the costs of fixing them – especially key in an agile development environment.

Not just one or the other, we do both functional test and load testing.
